Building horses up on a solid foundation.
Breaking the barrier on "just a barrel racer".
Bringing up the next generation on strong values.
Heart S was founded in 2009 after years of working under colt starters, western pleasure, barrel, and cow horse trainers. Over the years, working with different trainers really helped me see all different sides of what each discipline looks for to bring up their next champion. The day in and out chores as well helped me to know the time and effort each horse needs to make them great.
As I developed my own individual training style, I also pursued other education in the equine industry. Working at a equine rehab and conditioning facility taught a lot about pre and post care as well as conditioning each horse to build the best athlete. Using tools such as inground aquatred, equisizer, cold laser therapy, ultrasound, and other modalities. These all helped me learn a more in-depth understanding of what these top equine athletes needed. From there, I went to work at Brazos Valley Equine Hospital in Stephenville TX. There, I got to really dive into the nitty gritty of performance horse Vets from breeding, lameness, to surgeries. Watching these amazing Veterinarian's use their skill, timing, and precision to get the desired results really opened my eyes to making sure I was applying that to my performance horses. As I found a love for the breeding side of things, I decided to work at Oswood Stallion Station. Long days and hours put in to just have a shot at maybe making the next "GREAT" really puts a perspective on how life really brings things full circle. From collections, shipping, and foaling out, lots of heartaches and close calls, I am always grateful seeing a healthy live foal hit the ground. Continuing my knowledge, I moved to East TX and started training full time from colt starting, barrel horses, stock horses, and problem horses. After a bad wreck with a colt I knew it was time to make a change. I started working at Highlander Training Center helping sales fit the yearlings working in the rehab & conditioning side. After working there for a few months I moved up into the office assistant position as well as still assisting in the rehab center. After a year working there and showing my skill set I am now the office and rehab assistant. I enjoy still training horses as well and only take in a few outside horses a month so each horse still gets that individual attention and care.
Using this knowledge, I am always learning and developing different skill sets that work for my program to bring out the best in each horse. Working with other trainers and horse enthusiast alike help to keep sharpening my skill set, as well as showing the new technology that is helping the horse industry grow as a whole. I want to bring the most out of each horse so they can develop good foundation, while also helping riders understand their horses needs. This industry can be tough, but is full of great horses and people that are excited for the future of training and the equine performance horse world.
